The word bikini comes from
the Latin bi, meaning "two," and kini, meaning
"square inches of Lycra". The two-piece
swimsuit was designed by Louis Reard (ray-YARD) in 1946
and was named after the explosion near small islands in
the Pacific known as the "Bikini Atoll". The
bikini soon acquired a reputation as a tongue-in-cheek
"explosive" garment and had a roaring success.
Brigitte Bardot became the first "Bikini Girl"
in And God Created Woman (1957), where she frolics in a
provocative sun wear . Her example was followed by
popular actresses of the time (Annette Funicello and
Frankie Avalon in Beach Party), creating a market for
the swimwear.
Today the bikini is worn
by the hottest Hollywood girls, representing a
pop-culture sex symbol. Modern stars don't have any
qualms about exposing their bodies and the
conservative bikini of the '60s was replaced by even a
more revealing style, what could be called a string
bikini or a microkini. The trend towards reduction
still continuous and new alternative designs are
invented every day.
The bikini is a symbol
of entertainment beach life, which has been part or
America's pop culture for decades. The hottest and
prettiest Bikini Girls can be found on sunny beaches
of the US, where they celebrate their love of
dancing, playing and entertaining. Being a Bikini
Girl is more than just having a flawless golden body
and wearing a bikini, it's a lifestyle and attitude.
It's about summer, beach parties, vacations and fun
music . There is no age or social limits - everyone
is welcome to have fun in the sun.
Hip, youthful and
irreverent beach lifestyle began catch on after
the bikini had been invented. Since then it grew
into a separate beach culture with its own
timeless hits and traditions. Among summer
classics are the movies 'Beach Party' , 'Muscle
Beach Party', 'Bikini Beach', 'Beach Blanket
Bingo', and 'How to Stuff a Wild Bikini' , and the
songs "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys,
"Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby
McFerrin, "The Tide is High" by Blondie
and many more.
However, today the
beach is not the only place, where we can meet
sexy Bikini Girls - you may find countless
pictures of young beauties on the Internet
websites, on the pages of fashion magazines and
calendars. The Internet became the main promoter
of aspiring models and Bikini Girls. Different
websites hold Bikini Contests all year round,
welcoming ladies' pictures in revealing
swimwear. There are also numerous dating sites
with sexy women at every corner. These virtual
Bikini Girls expose their bodies in the hope of
being discovered by bigwigs of show business.
They are filled with longing to make a career in
Lingerie Modeling or at least to marry a
millionaire. And they all have a chance to
become celebrated Swimsuit Lingerie Models,
Bikinis Models, or Lingerie Models. Still, some
Bikini Girls don't lack humanity and altruism.
While their counterparts use their beauty to get
on in life, they show off their bodies raising
money for charity. So, some American students
posed for a wall calendar in swimsuits and give
a 10 percent of gross sales going to aid
Hurricane Katrina survivors.
