Medical Insurance Cost Is Not a Supply and Demand Issue

by Jim Wilson
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Medical Insurance is one very disturbing subject that is affecting every family in America today. The pace at which we are now traveling through real time life events is staggering, and we as individuals are being excluded from the real issues that we are facing.

Medical issues are actually taking a back seat to political positions that are being heavily

influenced by religious misguidance. For example, stem cell research is being forced to slow down based on the religious position of ‘don’t mess with mother nature or God’s miracles of life’.

Medical Insurance has become a greed driven tool that is so clouded by a whole list of easily disguised topics that we can’t see what’s being told to us for the real crimes that are affecting our lives. Medical Insurance is nothing more than a business that relies on fueling a culture that is dependent on the available medical treatments that are controlled by the Food & Drug Administration and it’s political allies.

Before you go in either direction with your views on medical insurance, medical treatments, stem cell research, or religious issues, ask yourself a few simple questions about what makes sense. Do you really believe there is medical treatment that can cure Cancer and it currently exists? Do you think, if there is a cure that the Food & Drug Administration would be involved? If the government and the pharmaceutical companies are involved, and they are, would there stand to be greed and control applied to this available medical treatment? If stem cell treatment could cure numerous diseases and afflictions would you agree it’s a pro-life issue? If you know someone that has a life threatening disease and there is a cure, but it’s not available due to religious and governmental issues, would you be willing to voice your opinion?

Medical insurance is forcing the average American to pay enormous premiums for less coverage and less, in hospital treatment time, so that they can maintain a level of profit equal only to the oil companies. So, what has America come to, the land of milk and honey, or the land of milk for more money?

Unless you have been directly affected at this point, trust me, you will eventually, and you already are being affected indirectly, you soon will be.. Medical insurance is allowing people to die and suffer needlessly out of greed more than anything else. Other countries, are no longer wanting to send their top doctors and scientists to the United States because of trivial issues, that we as Americans are allowing our politicians to mask, for the sake of greed and personal gain. While we at home are allowing golden opportunities to slip away, by letting the absolute best doctors, researchers, and scientists to seek other parts of the world that will allow for there studies and cures.

Medical insurance costs will continue to erode our global ability to maintain the best care and best cures for the diseases that affect the world. If you can’t afford the medical treatment, you certainly won’t be able to afford to travel abroad to find a cure for a loved one. Speak out to your government leaders to save us all from continued isolation from the rest of the world.

If you have read these words and want to make a definite difference in where our country is going medically and financially, I urge you to contact your local, state, and national leaders, to allow for more relaxed visa restrictions for medical studies in the United State, to allow for stem cell research, and to put more restrictions on medical insurance companies by increasing the amount of medical coverage a person has access to, unrelated to their income. We don’t get sick based on income, therefore we need the same common sense applied to medical insurance. Determine a national average cost for healthcare and allow Americans the same right to treatment paid for by a flat percentage of their income so that whatever aliments you have and wherever you live, you can receive the same medical treatment. The thinking here is similar to a flat tax solution to our federal income tax laws.

Medical insurance companies certainly don’t want you to be aware of alternative medicines and cures but they do exist and you can discover some very valuable resources if you choose to apply these remedies. While I don’t endorse any of these due to not having firsthand experience, it is interesting to see how effective they may be.

Group Medical Insurance - The Two Basic Kinds

by Elizabeth Newberry

Those of us in search of medical insurance ideally want to get our hands on a group medical insurance plan. Admit it - one of the biggest perks of taking a new job, and hanging onto it, is the group medical insurance plan that it offers. Unfortunately, employers are not required to offer any kind of group medical insurance plans to their employees. If your employer does not offer a kind of group medical insurance plan, or you are self-employed, unemployed, or employed only part-time, chances are you are going to have to search for an individual medical insurance plan, and let's face it - finding an affordable individual medical insurance plan can be quite the scavenger hunt.

The two most popular ways to get a group medical insurance plan is through your employer and through an organization with which you are affiliated. Many organizations offer all types of insurance plans, from medical and life insurance to auto and home owners insurance, to their members. If you belong to one of these kinds of organizations, read up on their policies about group medical insurance plans.

Briefly, there are two main kids of group medical insurance plans. You may get a fully insured group medical insurance plan, in which your employer or organization agrees to take on the responsibility of covering all of your health-related services. Or, you may get a minimum premium plan, also known as an MMP, in which your employer or organization takes on the responsibility of paying a certain amount of your health-related services. Think of it as a cap. After that amount of money has been dished out, the insurer picks up the tab.

With a minimum premium plan, you may be offered a basic coverage group medical insurance plan, a major medical coverage group insurance medical plan, or a combination of the two - a group medical insurance plan that offers both basic coverage and major medical coverage.

Myth: "Cheap Insurance is not good insurance"

Medical Insurance For Seniors
by Elizabeth Newberry

Medical insurance can be complicated enough - for seniors, it seems the picture is often more confusing. Most seniors don't work and many are in ill health or have special medical needs. And many seniors rely on government funded assistant living facilities - an estimated 1 million seniors live in around 30,000 assisted living facilities throughout the country.

Most seniors qualify for either Medicare or Medicaid, depending on their income and situation. Medicare is available to those who are at least 65 years old, and have legally lived in the US for at least 5 years before applying. Medigap insurance is supplemental health insurance taken out by some seniors as a way of supplementing their Medicare insurance.

Medicaid is funded by the government and administered by individual states under their department of insurance. Qualification for Medicaid also depends on an individual's assets, income and type of residence. Medicaid will usually cover most or all of the costs of nursing home admission and the accompanying care that is necessary.

Some seniors, because of a particularly low income or a specific disability, may also qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) a program administered by the Social Security Administration. This program offers several benefits including providing monthly supplemental payments, food stamps and assistance with hospital visits and drug costs.

If you don't qualify for Medicaid, what is known as long term care insurance can be purchased for long term stays in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. If you are shopping for long term insurance, you should consider what other benefits are covered under the plan, the costs of premiums and whether the policy covers pre-existing conditions.

Seniors may also find themselves using the services of Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) HMOs generally accept Medicare payment and offer lower cost deductibles or co-payments. They also put an emphasis on preventative medicine as well as the actual treatment, and many provide eye care, dental services and emergency care when necessary.
